About Trends: People

Bill Dougherty has dedicated the past decade of his career to covering charitable events throughout the Valley. A native of California, Bill spent his childhood in both Phoenix and Orange County.

He graduated from California State University, Fullerton, where he earned a Bachelors of Arts in English literature with an emphasis in American studies. In 1990, Bill moved permanently to the Valley and five years later joined the staff of Trends working as a social reporter before becoming social editor.

In 2000, Bill left the newspaper only to return one year later to purchase it with a business partner. The partner sold her half to Bill and his wife, Beth McRae, less than two years ago making them Trends’ co-publishers. The couple live in Paradise Valley.
